If doing the double is just too much, or you need a smarter version, keep it classic with a grey or navy Harrington, a tan suede bomber or heavy-cotton chore jacket — the latter of which will come in handy for its multitude of pockets.

Distressed jeans, jeans with holes, and jeans with a lighter wash are all ultra-casual and will NEVER go well with dress shoes. Instead, opt for denim that fits well in the waist and the hips. Watch the length of the jeans and see to it that they are not too long and drag. Find jeans that have a more tapered fit at the bottom. Boot cut jeans will not work with dress shoes. It may surprise you but colored denim — provided it is the right fit and length — can work with black or dark brown dress shoes.
The main thing to make sure of is that there is enough contrast between the shoes and the jeans so they do not appear to match exactly. A better style to go with is the Blucher, Loafer or the Derby dress shoe style. Please note, not all waist sizes are available with a 12" inseam. I have bought at least 20 pr. The size runs true and they wear great. I recently purchased 2 pr. One regular and one carpenter One regular and one carpenter. The waist and pants fit good but I hate the long length of the inseam.
I know it's stylish for new men's shorts to be long but I like my shorts to be truly shorts, above my knee at least 2 to 3 inches.
I am only 5'8" tall and long shorts is that correct? I may get them hemmed later. I bought these Wrangler denim shorts to replace some Wrangler denim shorts that I have had for a number of years that are finally wearing out. I liked the old shorts very much and I liked the old shorts very much and wanted an exact replacement.
Unfortunately, after buying these new shorts I realized that the legs are now 10" long instead of 8" long like my old shorts. The new shorts now hit below my knees, giving me a look that I don't care for, instead of slightly above the knees like my old shorts.
Now after looking at the Wrangler website, I realize that Wrangler only offers an 8" leg on hiker cargo shorts and perhaps some other shorts, but it is no longer an option on the denim shorts. I won't be buying any more denim shorts unless the 8" leg option becomes available again.
My husband saw someone wearing these shorts and really liked them. He normally wears Wrangler jeans and likes the fit. He asked me to order some for him, so I ordered two pair. He loved them and asked me to order 3 more! Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful? I wear these all the time and like how they fit. Wrangler shorts are more expensive on this site than in the stores, which is a surprise..
I'm a General Contractor and have been wearing the Wrangler denim shorts for years. Comfortable and durable for my trade. Yes, the 5th pocket has shrunk. I never use it, so it's a non-issue for me. And yes, they now have rivets on the pockets. I consider that a big improvement in strength.
The wear like iron, wash up well and are very comfortable. My only complaint is I purchased one pair in color "quartz". It doesn't fit the same as the other pairs I have including those I've ordered recently. The quartz feel tighter in the legs although when measuring them they seem the same as the other colors I have.
Overall, though, I'll keep buying them because they're comfortable and they're a great value. About Me Conservative, I like to do my research before purchasing. The short pants I purchased are just perfect. The size is correct, Wrangler shipped and I received the package on time. About Me Casual, Conservative, I like to do my research before purchasing. I'm a Handyman and wear Wrangler Shorts all the time.
If the overall look is out of your comfort zone, stick to a more traditional shape and fabric, but try and choose a patterned black shirt. Navy and black are good bases for pattern, as the dark tones mute things down, whereas plain black is too harsh on its own and too close to a restaurant-waiter look in the sun or under those office lights.
Open up the neck by unbuttoning an extra button, roll up the sleeves, and rock an all-black summer look, ready for the weekend. Shoe-wise, keep it casual and pick your favourite trainer, literally anything from a smart Common Projects style luxury loafer to current streetwear darlings, Vans.
Or try the old school 80s look of Saucony Originals. An easy way to wear black jeans is by taking them back to their roots and bringing out the leather jacket. Alternatively, a tobacco suede jacket offers a rich colour contrast, but somehow still works with the densest of black jeans.
Of course, you want to show off leg-day gains in the gym, but too slim a cut will cheapen the overall look of the jeans. Slim but with movement is about right.
